History

Hi!  I'm Diana.  DianaBefore I started quilting I reckoned I lacked artistic talent, a view I've now revised!  I've been handy with needle and thread since childhood so it's no wonder I have become a quilter!

I studied for two degrees in later life and had my own management and training consultancy.  Early retirement saw me heading for a new home in the Lake District and, I thought, a life of leisure.  However.....

Near to my new home was a patchwork and quilting shop - it drew me like a magnet, and life hasn't been the same since!  With wonderful teachers to inspire me, I began quilting 24/7 and was soon designing quilts while developing my own unique style.

Eventually, I was asked to become a teacher, something I really love.  I consider it to be a real privilege, and am known for my ability to inspire quilters to develop their own creativity.

The Lake District's weather was a problem for my health and so, an East Anglian by birth, I returned 'home' in 2004.

Recently I've gained a reputation for creating complex and specialised heraldic quilts such as the one made for Julian & Sarah Allason, which was featured in Tak Tent, The Scottish Heraldic Magazine.

Having a long history in public speaking, I love visiting quilting and community groups, and am happy to travel throughout the UK or abroad. Where considerable travel is involved, it's often helpful to tag a workshop onto one of the days either side of the speaking engagement. Please contact me to enquire about visiting your group.

In September 2005, I founded Freedom Quilters, which serves local patchworkers and quilters.  The group meet at Wisbech Baptist Church where I regularly worship and sometimes can even be heard giving the sermon!
